New Era Dragster
This New Era Top Fuel Dragster 1/4 scale was purchased in 1992 directly from New Era designer and builder Frank Desimone of Nashua, NH. I purchased this car in April 2014 from John Carr, the original owner who started to build the kit but never finished. Most of this kit has been stored over the years in the original sealed packaging. The original kit includes a stepped triangulated welded chrome moly frame, 3 point front suspension, split frame for ease of transportation, NEM quick change drag rear with outboard brakes, hand laminated high gloss fiberglass body (red), two stage wing, drag racing driver and helmet, parachute pack (2), 9" drag slicks, top fuel front tires and wheels, custom milled spun aluminum rear wheels and a Solo 54cc 2 stroke gas engine with clutch. Also included are two 1/4 scale Futaba servos for steering and throttle. The car was not equipped with a radio, receiver or battery pack. John had all the original documentation, sales receipts and the build manual, all of which he turned over to me.
John worked with Frank and his wife on building this cars for John’s collection and it is as new as the day he picked up the car from Franks house in Nasha, N .H. John’s and his wife spent some time with the Desimone’s, he was really into his work his cars. Frank’s wife did all the sales paper work, and she made the parachutes and trimmed down the body decals. John felt that Frank’s small company was one of the best in its time. Too bad they are now gone.
