I'm not sure I understand the question.

But, in the drawing, it appears the motor is too small. Look at the motor in Force's car (EDIT: Tasca's) compared to the size of his rear tire. With the setback blower extending backward, dual mags and fuel pumps in front, you get almost FOUR feet of motor.

I believe the chassis are (by NHRA rules) limited to 125" max. Rear tires are ( I think) 36" diameter. But our 2-stroke engines aren't all proportionally "scale" compared to the size of a real nitro motor, you also have no driver, two or three servos, a receiver fuel tank and other non-scale items you have to accomodate.

You could build one tube-for-tube scale, but then you'll just have to go in later and chop out frame rails for clearance and add mounting tabs and plates for the RC components.

So... don't fret the "scale" too much.

take a look at these. Been thinking about them for some time now. Many of these setups would work excellent. http://www.engagerc.com/servlet/the-1-f ... Categories

I think I would build a fake engine over it too. These guys did it and its wicked!!! http://store.rc4wd.com/Fracture-V8-Engi ... p_827.html

The 1/4 scale "Hawk" plastic Hemi motors are true 1/4 scale, but the modern nitro motors don't look anything like those old 1970's hemis anymore.

Modern nitro motors have dual-plug heads, dual mags and huge fuel pumps, ballistics blankets over the blower and covers over the spark plugs, setback blowers and those ugly buzzard-catcher scoops.

If you want to do a scale modern nitro motor, that was the best idea, get a new Diecast (especially those 1/16 scale ones) and multiply the dimensions by four. Those are the only accurate scale renditions of the new nitro motors that I'm aware of.

There's one guy I know in the hobby industry who's an expert in large scale electric power, Chris Fine at Fine Design RC. If you told him what you were doing, I'm SURE he could steer you into a motor / esc/ battery setup that would work.

I LOVE the idea of an electric Q-scale, and I know there are a couple of guys lurking in this thread that have some high-voltage tales to tell, too....

Hey Dom, I've got a Neu 2215 1y in my funny car. Motor runs great in fact alittle to good on 40 volts. The speed control is the issue, the amps that this motor draws over heats the esc and will burn it up if I make 2 or 3 runs in a row. I have been using Mamba Monsters but now I'm going to try a Tiken on 25 volts instead. I spoke to Chris Fine and he recomended the next lower kv motor than mine, but I did not listen  the kv on mine is 1050 per volt as oposed to 750 in the other. I'm geared at 8 to 1 skellys are geared even lower so I would think 750 kv would be more than enough. Hinding a 6s or two 4s will be a trick also. Geoff

Hey Funky, I do not run a skelly a belt drive is what I've got. Although MRO does not agree I may change to a direct drive system. Dominic my pics are on page 2 of members ride[electric funnie car. You can pic my brain but you might not get much. Crazy ed has a brushed funny that does well from what I understand, maybe he can give you some more input. Geoff

Actually, I'd like to see a sidewinder system like what we have in the tenth scale dragsters, pinion direct to spur gear. You could still change gear ratios quite easily that way. But it would necessitate that the motor itself would have to fit between the rear tires. Probably more do-able on a wider onroad car than a drag car, due to space limitations. But you never know, depending on the length of the motor, it might just fit.

Yeah, it would suck up a lot of energy driving a conventional quick change, 90-degree rear end.

The one other thing that's different from the smaller scale electric cars is that you'll probably have to use a separate mechanical brake system, as you'll surely blow the brakes out of your electronic speed control if you try to use the electrical system alone for braking. Very few ESC's are designed with braking FET circuitry adequate to stop a 20 pound car from 60 mph.

My next Q-scale car will probably be electric. I've got a bunch of parts already downstairs.

Mike, your car (a CEC?) probably has an AstroFlight 205 or 206 Speed control, I'm not sure those ESC's even HAD electronic brakes, hence the mechanical ones.

And you could lost about eight pounds of weight out of that car by replacing those ancient NiMH (NiCD?) cells switching it over to 5000 mah or larger Lipo packs, like four or more. That thing would get up and go!
