Re: plans for 1/4 scale frame
Welcome and good luck.
I do not know of any. That is why we built our own from scratch.
There may be some out there. If you want realistic, Mark Williams will sell you a blue print of a Funny car frame and you can change the measurements to fit your needs.
Please keep us posted!

Re: plans for 1/4 scale frame
Hi
I just joined the site myself in hopes of finding out some information about building myself a 1/4 scale funny car or Pro stock car. From what I have seen you guys have some nice cars, but I am in the same boat as this other guy, what size steel do you use to weld a chassic, round, flat steel is it steel or something else? would someone be willing to let me copy thier chassic design to get me started on my first car if so please contact me here or my email is heavenlybet@comcast.net.
Thanks
Sam

When I did mine [not saying this is the right way to go] I bought a body a built the frame to fit it.

Me, too...
I gathered tires and wheels, the motor, and driveline components and then stuck them all under the body in the postitions I wanted them.. Then I lifted the body off, set it against the wall, and there were my basic dimensions.
Too many guys get hung up on building a perfectly "scale" frame with all the uprights and crossmembers in the right place, only to discover that a weedwhacker motor/clutch has a lot different proportions than a REAL motor, and then they have to cut out and modify sections and weld in mounting plates to get the motor in between the frame rails (see the pics of the Pacesetter cars with bowed-out "U" sections around the motor).
So... start with as many of the actual running gear and scale components as you can muster, and probably most importantly the body. That will determine your wheelbase (usually 31-32 inches), front and rear track width, and cage height.

Re: plans for 1/4 scale frame
well can anyone tell me what size steel to us in building this chassic, I want to build a Pro Stock chassic, I have gathered that the wheel base is 31 to 32 inch I am hoping that is center line of each rim? What are most using for rearends, front suspensions, motor, transmission? any help would be apreciated.
Thanks
Sam
And or some nice pictures of someone elses Pro Stock Chassic I am sorry but I have searched the net and I am not finding must help out there, so I am hoping you guys can get me off to a good start.

Sam...31 to 32" wheelbase is for a Funny Car...
ProStocks are shorter, I know a couple of guys have built them using either NASCAR bodies or one of the LRU bodies, so they may be able to provide you with measurements for one of those types of cars.

I have an old nascar body, I'll measure it and let you know.

Re: plans for 1/4 scale frame
thanks guys for the help I really apreciate it. If I talk to enough of you guys I might actually be able to build a car, I went and bought me a small welder last night and dying to start but need more info before I go, what gauge steel tubing are most of you using to build your chassics, I was thinking either 3/8 or 5/16
thanks
Sam
thanks
