Some quarter scale history

Post by NYCdragRacer »

Here are a few pictures of some 1/4 scale articles and advertisements I came across at Bob Smiths shop today, he has a great collection of old RC magazines I just could not keep my hands off!
I thought some of you guys would like to see.

Enjoy

Most of those are from RC Model Cars Magazine. I probably did the layout for most of the ads and stories you're showing here.

Very cool, I wish stuff like that was still available, why not someone start another magazine with just quarter scale stuff?
I know the internet right? But unless you have a laptop I do some of my reading enjoyment in the bathroom.lol I need a magazine or news paper

Hmmm... and who would the major advertisers be to support such a magazine?

Print's glory days are over, it's just too dang expensive and magazine distribution opportunities are more and more limited. Even the "big" magazines are getting slimmer and slimmer, and are forecasting to go online-content exclusively.

Just be glad we have a website like QSL to preserve the history of Q-scale, and to provide a place for current enthusiasts to interact. For small niche interests, this is where it's at, trust me. Print...not gonna happen.

Ya know what your right, I don't see anyone that actually enjoys using these type of cars except my fellow members that we run with in brooklyn, a handful of guys in indy and ohio, other then that most guys just collect and would probably have no use for a dusty magazine laying around.
Being an actual fan and driver of these machines I would of just enjoyed somemore interest in this scale like years ago, there are still guys building and making stuff, just not in the same amount manufucturerwise.. I'm just sick of all the race exposure on the 10th scale crap, these machines can still be enjoyed the right, they don't need to be writen off as just shelf queens.

But like you said, the big manufacturers are long gone and and just a few guys are holding whatever interest in this scale is left.
