The FEMA aid checks, doled out to New Orleans residents displaced by Katrina, weren't always used for rebuilding the devistated areas. According to this article, $1.4 Billion of FEMA money was wasted on Football Season Passes, Erotica, Booze, incarcerated prisoners, and trips to Hawaii. The Gummit can't simply pay people to act responsibly. I subscribe to the daily FBI report and find that they are still making arrests for Katrina fraud. Some people just want to take advantage of a free Gummit handout.

Here's a very recent example, (3/14/2011), of the FBI catching up with an unfortunate, Katrina 'Victim' who claimed she lived in New Orleans in 2005 and collected a $14K FEMA check; then, she went back to the well for another $5K! She actually lived in San Diego, CA at the time. Sun, surf, free Gummit money - what a life!
