Michael, I took the original wheels/tyres off. Tyres very badly flat spotted. Had this set sitting around and thought the Delara deserved them. Appreciate the info on the car.
Rob, it's taken about 20 years to find the one I wanted to pull the trigger on. Happy with what I finally got.

Re: 1/4ers on display
Kaye, I fell into slot cars by accident. One of my 1/4 scale mates built a slot car track in his bar/man cave. I found that building then was right up my alley, through my jewellery trade background. Pretty soon people were asking me to build cars for them and it all progressed from there. The full s...

Delara Info
Grabbed this Delara out of Belgium some weeks ago. Didn't attract 1 bid on ebay, so I contacted the owner ans we worked a great deal. I think I "stole it" actually. I don't think it ever did a lot of running and is in terrific condition. Do any members recognise the car? It has Drivers nam...

1/4ers on display
Our Slot Car Club was invited to be a part of a Vintage Speedway Display near Sydney. 2nd year we've been asked to show our vintage midgets and super mods. Decided to take the Packwood Supers and Gilmer as well. 1/4 scale cars always get the punters looking amazed. Although this year, I think the &q...

Probably my 2nd favourite 1/4 scale car, after the red off-set Delara super. How many of these supers were produced?

Re: Gilmer Midget in the garbage?
Spot on Emilio, in your assessment of Jan as a great guy. I had the pleasure to spend a day at his home and shop in 2011. He certainly has a story or 2 to tell. Jan's help in me restoring my Gilmer midget, has not been forgotten. Sad to hear about his health. Pass on my best wishes next time you spe...

Re: Wheel
I know there are at least 1 set of Sees wheels in Australia. I bought these off Jan Gilmer when I visited him in 2010. He told me he had got them for a client who wanted them on one of Jan's midgets. The dude didn't go ahead with the deal and Jan just put the back in the box until he mentioned them ...

From Hobby Talk Forum 2010 by Joe Depinto.
" In my mind the best belt drive car was the Joe Alves sprinter. Rumor has it Joe went to jail, and thus there were no more made. Most of the west coast guys would convert the Alves car over to a quick-change rear.'

Re: Shipping to austrailia or any where else
Phil, Not sure if I ever sent you this pic. What a terrific day that was way back in 2011. Doing the deal over lunch, with you and Elaine. A much better way of doing business than ebay. When we arrived back at the motel in Belleville Kansas, Jeff and Terry insisted that I undo all your fantastic pac...

This where the last 1/4 Scale Nationals were held as far as I know.
Me and the sprinter that Larry Hobson generously supplied, so I could run in the 2010 Show.

Knoxville 1/4 Scale
On that trip in the previous post, Jeff also visited Knoxville Iowa, to watch the Sprintcar Nationals and the equally important 1/4 Scale Nationals. The 1/4 Scale Nationals were held in the grounds of the Knoxville High school and going by these photos, were extremely well attended. It's a shame tha...
